Tasmanian Health Service - North West Region

Volunteers

There are a number of ways that volunteers assist the Tasmanian Health Service in the North West hospitals and health centres.

To be a volunteer with the Tasmanian Health Service you will need to fill in an application form, participate in a short interview, and complete a police check.  There is also training that you will need to complete when you start and as you continue to volunteer with us.

We are currently looking for people to volunteer with our Cancer Support and Wellbeing Centre and Meet and Greet Service. If you are interested in volunteering with us in one or both of these services, please fill in an application form and post or email it to us using the details below.  We will contact you once we have received your application.

Cancer Support and Wellbeing Centre

Volunteers will be the welcoming face of the Cancer Support and Wellbeing Centre at the North West Cancer Centre.  The Centre provides an oasis for patients, carers, families and others affected by cancer.  The team are available to make refreshments (tea and coffee) while providing a listening ear.

Wellbeing Centre volunteers will also assist with maintaining the presentation of the centre with tasks such as tidying the inside area and outside courtyard, and keeping patient information, such as brochures, up to date.  Volunteers may provide assistance to the centre's support groups and administrative tasks, such as putting patient information packages together, as required.

Meet and Greet Service

The Meet and Greet volunteers provide an important service to outpatients at the North West Regional Hospital. The team is available to assist patients and visitors on arrival with way finding, wheelchair transfers and an escort to clinics or other services throughout the hospital.

Meet and Greet volunteers also assist with a range of activities such as administrative duties, couriering and providing a consumer opinion on some meeting panels. Volunteering with the Meet and Greet service is a fantastic way of contributing to a quality experience for patients in the North West Regional Hospital.
