Information for GPs / health professionals / teachers

There are a number of educational sessions or programs run during the course of the year for health professionals.  These include:

Management of diabetes in the general setting:

  • A three-day program accredited by the National Association of Diabetes Centre.  This course provides participants with a national certificate of attainment.  This is suitable for Allied Health professionals, Registered Nurses, medical students, nursing students, Enrolled Nurses and Nurses working with the practice setting.

Program for carers

  • A one-day program designed specifically for carers to support a more contemporary knowledge base around caring for diabetes.

Teacher's program

  • A four-hour program designed to provide teachers with the skills and knowledge to care for a child with diabetes in the school environment.  This program is run at the beginning of te school year and again following the September school holidays.
  • Principals finding it hard to release teachers and carers to attend the program should contact the Department of Education: Learning Services, as they have indicate that they will support schools to attend this program.
