Education programs

The Diabetes Centre runs a number of programs to help people with diabetes and their families to better understand how to care for themselves and prevent health problems related to diabetes.  These programs may be relevant to all or only certain types of diabetes.

Carbohydrate counting program

This programs is for adults and children with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who are on insulin.  The program helps people to learn how to identify carbohydrate food and how to count this.  This skill helps people to better manage their insulin treatment and BGLs.  It is a three-hour program run in the evening.

Appetite for Change

This program is run for people who need some help with their weight loss.  Its focus is on learning about yourself.

Take on type 1 (TOTs)

This is a program for parents and carers of children who are newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
